What is TMS?
TMS stands for Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation. It’s a drug-free, non-invasive way to help people with depression, anxiety (PTSD, OCD), ADHD and chronic pain.

Free Initial Assessment
You will have an initial suitability assessment where will ensure TMS is appropriate for you. We will individualise your TMS protocol based on your mental health history, current symptoms and goals of treatment.
One-off Mapping Session
During this once-off session, your TMS Psychiatrist will determine the location of the treatment target (eg. for Depression it is often the Dorsol-lateral Prefrontal Cortex). He will also determine the correct parameters for the treatment. The initial TMS Mapping appointment is required to find your motor threshold and calculate the exact location of the treatment target (Eg. the Dorsol-lateral Prefrontal Cortex for Depression). By stimulating the left motor cortex, we can cause a small contraction in your right thumb or index finger. This will give us a visual cue that your nerve has been activated. The motor threshold is known by finding out the level of stimulus required to cause a nerve cell to activate.
Treatment Sessions
During your TMS treatment sessions, you will sit comfortably on a recliner chair and have the coil placed over the target site. Treatment lasts for approximately 20 minutes and is conducted 5 times a week for 7-8 weeks. During treatment you will be able to chat with our TMS nurses or watch TV.
Mid and End TMS Reviews
In addition to daily assessments by our TMS nurses, our senior team will review you during the middle of your treatment and near the end. This is to ensure the treatment is always heading in the right direction. We will also communicate with your GP or Psychiatrist to ensure that they are kept informed of your progress
